It is the Oakland community's responsibility to ensure that Oakland public schools prepare all students with the skills and knowledge required for success in college, career, and life. Our children and youth must graduate prepared for work, citizenship, independence, and family life in a democratic community, empowered with the skills and habits of life-long learners.
As a community, GO Public Schools believes that six key strategies can improve student learning and achievement in our city:
Effective teachers.
An effective teacher in every Oakland classroom
Strong leadership.
Strong educational leadership throughout the city
Individualized education.
An individual plan and personal relationships to support each student's development and success
Empowered school communities.
Families, teachers, principals, and students have the responsibility of making site- and community-based decisions to improve student outcomes
Choice about schools.
Families choose among safe, diverse, quality district and charter public schools in their neighborhoods and throughout the city
One vision. One Oakland.
All of Oakland working together for all Oakland students
